About

The New Zealand Institute of Travel and Tourism Inc. was established in 1968 as the New Zealand Institute of Travel with the aim of “promoting the educational and cultural advancement of those engaged in sales, passenger and promotional aspects of the industry and to provide recognition of its members as professionals in the business of travel”.

NZITT initiated the development of formal skill training for tourism and travel occupations with the eventual evolution of the industry training organisations – the Aviation and Travel Industry Training Board (ATITB) and later the ITO the Aviation Tourism and Travel Training Organisation (ATTTO).

In 1988 the Institute embraced the emerging demand for tourism qualifications and became the NZITT.

Today, through its 580 members, the New Zealand Institute of Travel and Tourism encourages individual excellence from individuals by promoting the attainment of national qualifications, quality service and professional standards.   It initiates and facilitates Webinars on topical issues that enhance the skills of employees in the industry.
